An intranet is a private network make use of Internet-type tools, but accessible only within that organization. For large organizations, an intranet provides an easy right of entry mode to corporate information for employees.

An internet is a system of connected networks that are worldwide in capacity and make possible communication services such as remote login, file tranfer, E-mail and World Wide Web.

Wide area networking combines multiple LANs that are geographically seperate. This is accomplished by connecting the different LANs using services such as dedicated leased phone lines, dial-up phone lines (both synchronous and asynchronous), satelite links, and data packet carrier services.

A network is any set of autonomous computers that communicate with one another over a shared network medium. LANs are networks typically limited to a geographical area, such as a single building or a university campus.

There are six types of a Network Which are as follows:

1.    LANs (Local Area Networks)
2.    WANs(Wide Area Networks)
3.    Internet
4.    Interanet
5.    MANs (Matropolitan Area Networks)
6.    VPN (Virtual Private Network)
